Updates and Bobbi Brown.

My latest haul :)

Umm. I love Bobbi Brown. The new Skin foundation.....whoa. Just what I was looking for. It's lightweight. Moisturizing and buildable coverage. When you first apply it can come on sheer but it definitely covered my blochiness and some hyperpigmentation. Not to mention it has Spf 15. Way to go Bobbi Brown :) Above is the Bobbi Brown foundation doesn't it look natural?

The Estee Lauder Nutritious Vitamineral makeup with spf 10 is another story. It smells bad, it's cakey looking and drying :( so pull out your moisturizer. I think this one will do well once the summer months come in. The only plus is that it's mineral based and really affordable at 33.50. I would say it gives medium coverage.
Above is a picture of the Estee Lauder foundation.

Ole Henrickson Sheer Transformation which I blogged earlier about is still awesome. No breakouts so far. My skin is soft and brighter!I also want to update on my Korres Vitamin E primer. That thing is amazing. The key is to use very little or it will feel greasy. My makeup stays put after work. I work 8 hour shifts 1 hour lunch and plus the 2 hour commute and it's still yetgood. It leaves a nice hydrated silky feel. Very good for dry skin. I'm combination and I haven't broken out yet :)

above is the Fusion lip plumping pencil in flushed and the Urban Decay liner in Deviant.
The Fusion Lip Plumping Pencil in flushed I don't see any severe plumping. ( it does plump just not ah-mazing) The plus is like most of the fusion products it does not hurt, burn or sting like duwop and toofaced. It feels nice and stays put. Really natural color too. I also got the Urban Decay liner in Deviant and it is awesome. It has light shimmer and the blue is really vibrant perfect for the upcoming spring. :)

I went on another foundation hunt....

Today I was off early from work and went to my favourite store to play with the new MAC collection. It didn't really tickle my fancy so I didn't rush to get it. I only ended up with one new eyeshadow from the collection and lots of other things I wasn't intending to buy. The second thing I wanted was to get my hands on a good foundation. So I've had a lot of recommendations from clients to try Chanel and I'm in loooove. The MA there was so nice. He really took his time, matched me nicely and listened to what I really wanted.
From top to bottom is Mac power point eyeliner in forever green, mac eyeshadow in Nocturnelle and Dear Cupcake, lipglosses in Beaux and Pink Lemonaid, Mac lipsticks in Cosmo, Ravishing and Bombshell

Only the Dear cupcake is from the Sugar Sweet collection. I feel like I have a lot of the items they had and the Lollipop loving lipstick I wanted they didn't have :(

Above is the Mally black eyeliner the Chanel lipgloss in 69 and 79 ( I looove that color) The Nars concealer duo Custard followed by ginger (awesome value) The Mac paint pot in soft ochre.

Above are my new foundations. The Mally powdered visible skin adjustable foundation in Light, the Chanel Powder foundation poudre universelle in Beige and the Chanel teint innocence naturally luminous foundations in Cameo.
Here is the Mally City Chick Eyeshadow pallette in Central Park
Then I headed to Victoria Secret for Fusion lip plumpers and the new Body Bare collection which they didn't have. Grr. But I ended up falling in love with their new natural body creams. Yum. So moisturizing and affordable. Definitely a plus. They don't smell as overwelming as their regular collection. I love the vanilla sandelwood, it's a stronger warmer scent. I don't know. I'm all into anything that reminds me of India...well everyone knows I love India. And I know I'm already prepared for all the India inspired Spring Collections like Stila and Guerlian. I can't wait!!!!

Above are swatches of the Pink lip butter from top to bottom is bare and ripe.

Massage oils and Aromatherapy

I've been researching and learning about massage lately. Just for the heck of it. It's giving me something to do so that I can distract myself. I'm a little sad lately, you see, I'll be getting a visitor that will be staying for an extended vacation. She'll probably leave sometime in September. And that makes me very sad. Not because I don't like her, but because I'm not in the stage of my life where I want to share my personal space. Between learning Nepali, my research and work I really don't feel like I have any time left the my day. Especially to come home have to cook and deal with all this. Sigh. I'll pray that God gives me better time management skills. lol. Anyways back to massage oils and aromatherapy.

Now many of you probably had a massage or two in your lifetime. Those that have not do not know what they are missing. Imagine all the day's stress soothed away by skillful hands. I've heard some people fall asleep and other cry as they release their tension.

Oil is mainly used to lubricates the skin so that the hands glide over the body in a soothing

manner. Some provide additional nourishing benefits to the skin. Others are used as bases or carrier oils for essential oil or aromatherapy oils. Essential oils are very concentrated herbal extracts that have different properties. Aromatherapy has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian civilizations for healing and rituals. The word Aromatherapy was coined by the French scientist Rene Maurice Gattefosse, who used lavender oil to treat his burns after a freak accident in his labs and discovered Lavender's healing and conforting powers!

Precautions. Best to use less than more. Typically essential oils are diluted in carrier oil. Usually about fifteen drops of essential oil to one ounce of carrier oil. But that really depends on the manufacturer. Citrus oils need to be kept away from light in storage. When used out of the skin stay out of the sun and tanning beds. Contact your doctor before use if you are pregnant or have allergies. Being in contact with essential oils in a closed environment long term can cause headaches. Also be careful using essential oils in a facial and then doing a chemical peel. The essential oil penetrates the epidermis and can cause you to get a deeper peel than you might want.

Here is a list of my standouts, not exhaustive but a good little beginner's guide none the less.

Popular carrier oils:

Sweet Almond Oil -Spreads easily great carrier oil with little smell. Rich in Vitamins A, B and E as well as fatty acids and proteins.

Grapeseed Oil- is very easily absorbed. And doesn't feel greasy and is usually odorless.

Jojoba Oil- spreads easily is the oil that resembles the sebum of the skin most. It's the least comedogenic.

Safflower Oil- spreads easily, good carrier oil but tends to be greasy.

Olive Oil- is very nourishing for the skin, helps strenghten the skin and soothe fine lines and wrinkles.

Coconut Oil-Lots of glide with this one. Very nourishing for dry/aging skin. But can be too rich for acneic/oily skin types.

Essential oil:

Lavender- Can be applied directly to skin. The most popular one too. Soothing and relaxing. Helps you sleep, relieves stress and clear your mind. It is also an antiseptic and antiviral.

Tea Tree - Can be applied directly to the skin, antibacterial. Great for acne. Reduces inflammation and is an antiseptic.

Ylang Ylang- ideal for relaxation. Helps reduce tension and is an antidepressant. Another good hint is that many consider it an aphrodisiac so use wisely.

Eucalyptus- Helps with respiration by opening nasal cavities. Colds, coughs, sinus infections. Antibacterial and Anti fungal.

Rosemary- Helps increase alertness and concentration. Even helps with hair growth!

Chamomile- is a mild sedative, helps soothe burns and cuts. Even helps with arthritis.

Grapefruit-Helps with cellulitis, stimulates digestive and lymphatic system.

Vertiver- This one is great for stretch marks, also helps dispel anger and irritibility.

Kevyn Aucoin Sensual make-up!

Whoa. I didn't know how good Kevyn Aucoin cosmetics were so awesome. They smell great they perform great what's there not to love?

I recently got my hands on The sensual skin enhancer in LQ 5 is a wonder product. It can be a concealer, full coverage foundation or highlighter. I love it as a concealer but you need a good brush and a light hand. It's a little on the oily side as a full coverage and it does have a little transfer problem so do set with powder.

The liquid airbrush foundation in LQ5 it's so moisturizing, it really looks airbrushed. It's pretty sheer but buildable, smells like light baby powder too. No transfer problems and it's long wearing.

Another haul and a peek at Korres Cosmetics

Here is my new haul from Sephora. below from left to right I have Benefit flawless powder in petal, smashbox camera ready full coverage concealer in #3 and CK concealer in cream 104.

I'm in love with the natural line Korres. This Greek line features good for you cosmetics ingredients. I got the Vitamin E face primer which is silicone and oil free. Can you say delightful?

The above picture is the Ginger and vitamins foundation with spf 10 in LF2. This feels like a tinted moisturizer. It's so easy to blend and is also buildable. Dries quickly but still transfers a little.

Above is my Walgreens haul. I got the covergirl queen palette in amber and the lip tint in naked . Also the face shop acerola and vit C face masks. I'm excited to play with these soon.

Josie Maran, and her glamorous natural makeup.
Above is a peek at her tinted moisturizer in Butter. It's very moisturizing and creamy. The SPF 30 makes it a perfect choice for summer, some say it's too thick. Remember to use a little and build for the most natural look. Too bad it suffers from transfer problems and it's really oily. Even with all the benefits of Argon oil, oily skin types will want to steer clear of this one. Overall nice lightweight natural looking coverage for dry skin types. The concealer I found to be a little on the drying side but with a good deal of coverage. The argon oil is the star of her line it's rich in vitamin E and fatty acids. It's so lightweight and absorbs instantly. The face is left soft and smooth.

Ole Henrickson Skincare

Ole Henrickson of Denmark is a great natural skincare line that focuses on nature and science to create goodies to treat every concern under the sun. The best thing is that they are pocket friendly prices. They have great sets for $70 where you can sample a lot of the products.

I recently got my hands on a few products from their line.

Enlighten Me pigment Lightening serum. It has THC, lactic acid, lemon and mulberryl extracts as well as vitamin C ester. It's very gentle and effective. Also softens the skin.

Pure perfection cream with glycolic and lactic acid, has vitamin C, beta carotene, lemon and orange extract. It absorbs quickly.

The Vitamin Plus moisturizer has aloe vera, horse chestunut, korean gingseng and hazelnut oil. It's very lightweight and absorbs very quickly.

Sheer Transformation moisturizer has Vitamin C ester, kojic acid and is oil free and leaves skin really soft.

Looking for natural goodness.

I got a new haul!

I'm very excited about Fusion Beauty's New skincare line. I love fusion beauty. Their lip plumpers are mighty expensive but they are also top of the line. Unlike the other plumpers out there this one doesn't sting or burn your lips off. Most plumpers out there use cinnamon, ginger, and pepper to cause a localized allergic reaction aka plump lips. Fusion's baby uses tiny dehydrated collagen molecules that penetrate the skin and get rehydrated once they get in contact with the moisture in the lips. Awesome no tingly burning feeling. And it's longer lasting. Also the Fusion beauty plump and replump are awesome they are like cream lipsticks and the colors are oh so nice.
Anyway back to the Fusion skincare line. If anything. I just have to say that it is an affordable certified organic luxury skin care line. Right now one con is that they are lumping everyone into one category they need to come out with more.
The energy surge revitalizing foaming cleanser has lavender, green tea, dyhydrasome papaya and pumpkin as well as acai. All together it's a very gentle formula that even removes makeup.
The super charged age defense radiance renewal serum ( these products have really long names lol) This has aloe, dehydrasome yogurt berry acai and goji as well as yogurt. This one I bought. I find it to be very moisturizing. It says it's for all skin types but I say it works better for normal to dry skin types.
The daily dose nutrient rich age protect moisture cream. Like the serum this too is on the heavy side. It contains avocado oil and cocoa butter, white willow bark extract, red reaspberry extract dehydrosome pumpkin and mushroom.
The daily dose nutrient multitasking eye concentrate contains sunflower seed oil, dehydrosome acai and goji as well as pumpkin and mushroom and yogurt berry. This one is not my fav of the line it feels really sticky.
Overall the line will fair well with anyone dry to normal skin with the first signs of aging.
Above from Left to right is Korres Cherry full lipgloss in Nude 33, Korres eyeshadow in 24s in Gold. Korres soft eyeliner pencil in 6s gold and 1s Black. Smashbox Photo finish lid Primer.
Korres is another great Natural line from Greece. Their Cherry full lipgloss are full cherry and jojoba oil and vitamin c and e. Korres Deep color mascara provitamin b5, rice bran oil It's really lengthening but ok in the volume department. The good thing about it is no clumping or flakage and nice glossy color. Korres eyeshadow in 24S in Gold is really pretty. They are really pigmented and easy to blend. I got two soft eyeliner pencil in 6s gold and 1s black they are really soft and creamy. Great for smudging into smoky eyes but definitely not waterproof.
The smashbox photofinish lid primer sucks. Just like the eye brightener these are just don't stay on all day. It has a grayish cast to it too and it's thick too.

More Goodies!

I got a lot of skincare and some primers recently.

I bought the urban decay primer potion in sin, the smashbox under eye brightener. Bare Escentuals Rare minerals lotion, Fresh Soy Face cream and Fresh Rose Face primer. Boscia Skin refinisher and Boscia Vital Daily moisturizer with SPF 15. I also got the poreless set from Dr. Brandt. I'm already a fan of his microdermabrasion so this was a good addition.

The Boscia Vital Daily Moisturizer is awesome. It really absorbs right away so you don't have to worry about it making your makeup run. I love this for sensitive skin too. The line is sulfate, pthalate, petrochemical, paraben free, preservative, dye free, it's so good for you!
My other Boscia product is the Skin Refining Treatment. You'll see a reduction in pores within a week. It's makes the skin soft and smooth. But I found it a little drying on my drier areas.

Fresh is another natural brand that uses a lot of soy, rose and sugar in a lot of their products. The soy face cream was a little dissapointing. I expected a lot because this product has a lot of antioxidants like Vitamin A, C ,E and a multiple tea complex. I didn't mind the heavy fragrance but it's really greasy. A little goes a long way if you want it to absorb quickly. I broke out when using this. I also don't recommend it for sensitive skin folks because of the heavy fragrance and sensitizing ingredients like linalool.
The Rose Freshface primer is awesome. It's still a little on the oily side but not anywhere near the soy face cream. I found it to be very hydrating and lightweight which I like. I hate feeling like I'm wearing pounds of makeup. It smells so nice. Like fresh roses. It also features the multiple tea complex for antioxidants, algea extract for hydration and rose water and peony root extracts for balancing the complextion.

The Bare Escentuals Rare Minerals moisturizer is not bad. It's light weight and absorbs quickly. I didn't really feel like it did much else. I suppose the oiler skin types might find it balancing. It has a slight smell. On the positive note it does not have parabens.

I like Dr. Brandt's line. Not because he's Mag's doctor, but because he really has some outstanding products like the pore no more, r3p eyecream, and microdermabrasion scrub. So I opted for the pocket friendly Pores No More set. It contains a trail size cleanser, toner face cream and gel. It also has packets of microdermabrasion, lineless eyecream and pores no more. It's a really good value. The products all smell like witch hazel/minty. I like the cleanser it left my face really mat. The toner I only used on my tzone because it's too harsh otherwise. The gel I felt really made no difference aside from being hydrating. The pore effect is really mattifying and gentle. The formula is really thick and will probably cause more acne. I didn't use it long enough to notice any extra breakouts.

On the left is the Smashbox Photo Op Under eye brigthener and on the right is the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer in sin. I'm not crazy about the Smashbox eye brightener. It's shiny and gold colored it looks rather off. Don't get me wrong this stuff does brighten, but I would perfer other things to this. It does not stay on well and settles into lines. The Urban Decay Sin is really nice. But I'm a rather traditional girl I prefer the original because this one is too shimmery for me. It does brighen eyeshadow and is really long wearing.

Sephora Haul!

I wandered in looking for the Dior addict lipgloss. But I didn't find the shade I wanted. I ended up getting the Givenchy Magic Kajal eyeliner the Nars seniorita lip color, Dior addict ultra gloss reflect in lace beige 587, Bare Escentuals lip tint in Melonie, Lorac couture shine liquid lipstick in elite. Bare Escentuals new Natural sunscreen spf 30 in Light, Clarins High Definition Body Lift.

Swatches from Left to Right: Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in Lace Beige, Nars lipstick in Seniorita, Bare Escentuals lip tint in Melonie, Lorac Couture Shine Liquid Lipcolor in Elite and the Givenchy Magic Kajal eyeliner.

I love the Dior Addict gloss. It has high shine and does not feel sticky even though the coverage can be sheer to medium. And a lot less perfume than the creme du gloss. The Nars Lipstick in Seniorita looks really nice. It's a great spring color. Sheer like your lips but better color. The Bare Escentuals lip tint in Melonie has a very nice non sticky light feel. The color payoff isn't great though :( The Lorac Couture Shine liquid Lipcolor in Elite is a very creamy medium coverage color. Nice colors to choose from. The Givenchy Magic Kajal eyeliner was a bit price at 21.50 I expected more. I liked that this had less fragrance than their usual stuff. But it still irritated my eyes. (I'd say I'm a bit sensitive). The color payoff was amazing. It was so dark and so soft . I can see it's potential for awesome smoky eyes. The only thing when you wear it in your waterline it does tend to! So I put eyeshadow under it to help stop a little of that and I didn't have too many problems.

Feature above is the Bare Escentuals Natural Sunscreen Spf 30 in Light. This product confused me. At first I thought I wasn't really getting anything on. I saw the brush showed something was on it but my skin just felt smooth. So I went back to sephora and played with the Medium and tan and I did see good coverage. I have to give this product high ratings for it's very sheer coverage and light feel. I loved it. The down side is that the tan will not really work on dark skin tones looks very ashy.

Bargain shopping la dee da!

Lol. Lately I've been heading over to Duane Reade and Rite Aid a lot more often. I really love Walgreens ( online they have a great selection of interesting products)but my local one has nothing in stock. Seriously. The other day I was looking for my chocolate covered almonds ( my diet only lasted a month ) I need to get back on that wagon.

:( And I checked the date because once I bought expired cookies from them and of course the chocolate covered almonds were expired lol. Anyway at least the staff is really sweet so I do go in there whenever I feel the urge to browse. The Rite Aid near me has a little more in stock but the staff there is rude. I ask this one guy for a price check and he rolled his eyes at me and then he hands to another guy . I was waiting by the cash registers and the other guy gets there and goes are you going to buy something with an attitude. And I'm go well if you tell me the price I might. Geesh what is going on are they being hit by the recession or what? Duane Reade is shoppers paradise always something new in most of the things are in stock but never any sales. Well you can't win them all now can you?
(end of rant)

So my little haul is the new Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse in Nude 4. This really does feel like a mouse so light and soft and it looks airbrushed. The shades are pretty good plenty of light medium and dark in both pink and yellow undertones. Coverage is buildable. But I would say medium.

I bought the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers. SPf 20 in Classic Ivory. A bit too light for me but they didn't have any better options for us yellow undertone gals. Not a lot of shade options. The foundation is very hydrating and is medium to full coverage. Only thing is that it has a serious transfer issue.

The Neutrogena MoistureShine SPF 20 in Electric Current. My god this color is vivid. It's sexy reminds me of a creamy version of the Armani lip wax #6. A color I adore. More of a Fall/winter color than a spring/summer one. But it's really moisturizing. I think women with fine lines will experience bleeding so use your toofaced/duwop or cargo reverse lipliners to prevent that. The color does tend to stay like a stain so I liked that.

The Body Shop haulage part deux.

Ever since I discovered The Body Shop I've been gaga over it. It's great quality for the price. I know I'm betraying my workplace the motherland of all things beauty but sometimes a girl's pocket isn't that deep and what do you do? You bargain hunt!

This time I was sad that my two ladies weren't there. Well actually one of the girls was there just shopping and she recognized me and greeted me. Whoohoo. She's such a doll. Otherwise they were pretty understaffed. Two girls at the register and one security. I don't mind not being helped but I was tempted to buy a serum so I was thinking either the seaweed line or the vitamin E line and I brought it along to the register to ask for help on choosing. The girl was not your best rep. She was annoyed that I was buying all three toners. The tea tree, the seaweed and the Vit E. I explained to her that I blog and sometimes do facials for friends and family and I like to try different things but she was rather rude. I've been kind of PO'd because lately I'm finding a lot of rude people. Yesterday, I was looking for the international dermal institute on 39th and 5th and I knew I was close but couldn't for the life of me remember the address so I step into the manhattan library. I'm not from ny and I'm used to tiny user friendly libraries. So in the interest of time I ask the information lady who was reading a book. And I say excuse me. And she looks at me with I wish you were dead how dare you interrupt me eyes and says Yes in a nasty attitude and I was where can I find phone books? and she goes " Forth floor" really snobbishly and I'm thinking spring is almost here there is no need for this nonsense but I say thank you and walk away briskly. That is so sad. Good people are really need for jobs yet people like that don't appreciate what they have. That really worries me.
(finished with the rant)

Anyway, back to my delicious haulage.

Vitamin E line:
I got the Hydrating Toner which is allowed for all skin types I have to say I love the smell of roses way too much. I have to say this is for drier skin types
The Vitamin E moisture Lotion SPF 15 it has both uva/uvb protectionfor it says for all skin types smells great. Absorbs quickly and doesn't leave that whitish cast. I would say it's more for the drier skin types because it takes a little longer to absorb on my oilier areas.
The Vitamin E gentle facial cleansing Wipes for all skin types smells great. Kind of like baby powder? didn't irritate me at all which the mac wipes do. :( Only thing it doesn't do a great job with the waterproof makeup.
The Vitamin E lip care spf 15. It doesn't smell very much or taste great but it does leave lips soft with a slight glossy finish.

Seaweed line:
The seaweed clarifying toner smells super clean. The seaweed line is my favourite. I'm glad they are coming out with good things for combo skin. It feels good. leaves skin clean and soft.

The tea tree line:
The tea tree oil facial toner whoa this stuff is strong. definitely for the oily skin types. I used it on my t-zone and two zits on my cheek and it wiped it clean baby! It smells strong of alcohol and tea tree oil. When you put it on it's rather refreshing but does not sting.

I also bought a cute mini facial brush for 3 bucks whoohoo. So far it feels soft and it fits in my purse. Ill be going to visit my parents over night and I'll be using this. I'll let you know how it works.

I'm sorry for the long delay...

My computer again suffered another attack. God knows what it got. It died. I lost all my information again had to reinstall everything and I'm down more money than it's worth. My dad promised me a new laptop if it dies again. I felt bad taking his offer because I'm married I shouldn't be spending my parents money like that so I fixed it. Let's hope it lasts until December. I plan to gift myself a new laptop for my birthday. I'm a christmas baby by the way. I'm planning on getting a mac at least those don't catch viruses or what not that easily so I won't keep on losing all my info.
